In many ways, the flame-retardant suit YLW Pyro wears is a part of it. The suit covers up the metal framework and circuitry underneath– almost like skin –and its gas mask acts as its head. She doesn’t see the point in dressing up, but she does have a fondness for flower crowns of any kind.
Personality
MERC-YLW-001 speaks audibly, but almost monotone, if it weren’t for the inflections it tries to use by increasing and decreasing its voice’s volume. MERC-YLW-001 moves quickly, but stiffly and loud, its boots constantly stomping at the ground underneath. MERC-YLW-001 is robotic, and is a robot, but that doesn’t stop it from behaving and feeling the ways humans do.
During battle, MERC-YLW-001 is a ruthless killer; Always on higher ground to both soak up the Sun’s energy and ambush clueless GRNs, setting everything she sees on fire, and destroying dispensers, teleporters, and sentries whenever she can. In her free time, however, she can be rather airheaded or incredibly curious, always following people and animals around and asking what her teammates are up to.

Lore
An unpolished prototype made by Mann Co. and specifically requested by the founder of YLW– the uncle of Blutarch and Redmann –after a series of losses resulting from the lack of a Pyro.
The original engineers and designers of Mann Co. poured their blood, sweat, and tears into creating the MERC series of humanoid war robots, just like every creator when it came to their creations. But this robot of the YLW Pyro fell short.
MERC-YLW-001 was a last minute project, rushed to finalization by YLW’s founder, as well as the need for YLW to finally get an upperhand. Instead of a bulky and sturdy chassis, MERC-YLW-001 only had a crude endoskeleton covered up by an unused YLW Pyro uniform; Instead of an advanced algorithm and sensors, MERC-YLW-001 relied on light to sense motion and to see; Instead of a proper, self-sufficient energy source, MERC-YLW-001 ran on solar power and batteries alone. This ended up creating a robot unusually attracted to all forms of light. MERC-YLW-001 wasn’t the idealistic soldier the other MERC robots were, MERC-YLW-001 was a failure.
But that didn’t stop the founder of YLW at all. Blinded by ambition and spite to piss off the other teams, he gladly accepted the defect into the team. MERC-YLW-001 wasn’t very intelligent at the time, but battle-by-battle, it began to learn. It followed wherever its teammates went, and gladly pursued whomever its Phlogistinator set aflame, chasing after the bright lights like a moth.
Eventually, despite all of the things objectively wrong with the robot, she had become sentient. MERC-YLW-001 found herself dictating the monotone words she spoke, doing things she wanted to do, and, sometimes, leading others into battle instead of blindly following. MERC-YLW-001 was no longer lifeless– she was alive!
