Who is Aradia Megido?

As introduced in canon:

Page 02134 of Homestuck, and Aradia's introduction, where they are simply standing around...

Your name is ARADIA MEGIDO.

You once had a number of INTERESTS, which in time you have LOST INTEREST IN. You seem to recollect once having a fondness for ARCHEOLOGY, though now have trouble recalling this passion. It nonetheless has led you to find your PRESENT CALLING, which came through the discovery of these MYSTIC RUINS on which you presently stand, and which you recently DESECRATED OUT OF BOREDOM.

Guiding you to this calling were the VOICES OF THE DEAD, which you have been able to hear since you were young. The voices have become louder as THE GREAT UNDOING approaches. This trend in escalation began after an ACCIDENT involving a CERTAIN KIND OF ROLE PLAYING, which might have been another of your interests once upon a time. It doesn't matter much anymore.

The accident resulted in the DEATH OF YOUR LUSUS, which prompted you to leave your home and take up these ruins as residence. On the instruction of your ANCESTORS, you have recovered MYSTERIOUS TECHNOLOGY from the ruins, and convinced a friend to adapt it into a GAME THAT WILL BRING ABOUT THE DESTRUCTION OF YOUR CIVILIZATION. And by convinced, you suppose you mean tricked.

He has tentatively named the game SGRUB, which is a word that is NOT TERRIBLY ELEGANT. If it were marketed by a legitimate game company instead of rapidly patched together by a young hacker, it would ostensibly be given a better title. He is presently mobilizing twelve friends to play it, including him and yourself. He believes he will lead the blue team. But he is wrong.

Your trolltag is apocalypseArisen and there is typically a pr0n0unced h0ll0wness t0 y0ur w0rds.

As introduced in my words:

Aradia Megido is one of the twelve Beta trolls in Homestuck, and acts as one of the comic’s many side characters. They are a rustblood, a Derse dreamer, and the one and only Maid of Time.

When we first see Aradia in the comic, we quickly come to notice that they are dead. Like. Straight up an actual ghost...

In their ghostly (and eventually robotic) form, Aradia is completely resigned to fate, the whims of the universe, and dead-set on doing what needs to be done and correcting what is wrong. Along with the emotional and mental impact of the events that led to their death, this makes them incredibly emotionless and apathetic to the people and things around them.

Page 2063 of Homestuck. Aradia, as a ghost, is floating above and looking down, their hand raised, ready to channel their psychic powers.

That doesn't mean that they are truly emotionless, however, as Aradia tends to express their anger (and overall negativity) through destruction (of physical items, brought about using their psychic powers) and revenge (towards Vriska Serket, the one behind their death), while refusing to express it in any other way.

Before their death, Aradia is seen to be notably much more cheery and supportive (especially of their FLARP partner, Tavros Nitram), albeit impulsive, driven by their own regret, and driven by their desire to make things right after Tavros's accident. But despite all their efforts, Aradia was still killed by Sollux Captor (mind-controlled by a certain Serket) and left to regret their own impulses in the afterlife, leading them to repress themself.

After their ascension to God-tier, Aradia becomes upbeat and appreciative of their life, still resigned to fate, but far more enthusiastic about it. They do what they can to help their friends, to keep the universe running as it should, and still entertaining themself along the way, as they're the type to do things merely for the love of the game.

Throughout all of this, Aradia is repeatedly shown to have an enjoyment for inevitability and a morbid sense of humor, often freaking other people out with their sheer dedication and joy for the things they do.

Never change, Aradia. You're cool as fuck!

Why Aradia Megido?

Appreciation

Page 3576 of Homestuck. Aradia is smiling as they unearth a fossil, and their attention is seemingly caught by a nearby meteor landing.

Aradia!! Oh man I love Aradia.

Unfortunately, all the thoughts I have about them are completely incoherent and are more akin to me rotating them in my mind for enrichment instead of any conceivable text, but I'll try to get my thoughts on them..

Aradia's a wonderful character!! But admittedly, I don't think about them as much as I should.. I really do relate to their experiences and journey throughout the comic, though. Seeing Aradia be so driven by their emotions then resorting to using logic and "what should be done" to make up for their past mistakes.. I get it. That shit hit close to home. <--(Went through the same arc[?] as Aradia did. Being young and explosively emotional is hard.)

I did NOT like how the others treated them while they were a ghost/robot/in a depressive state overall. I mean it's understandable considering where and how they were raised, as well as the fact that they were all stupid kids that didn't know better, but WHAT!! Where's the justice for my GOAT Aradia!! Treat them with respect, they're going through something right now!! Ahhh!!!

Other than that.. I just really like how they unintentionally freak others out by having unconventional view on life and death (as well as creation and destruction). It makes sense, of course they think that way-- with their time travel shenanigans (robot clones, being able to whisper to past/future selves, etc.), they've technically lived countless of lives and died countless of deaths. It means almost nothing to them! At most it's just an interesting point of one's existence! But some people just don't get it like they do. SMH.
